My Story

Dr. Vernita Council-Howard

Founder | Advocate | Author | Minister | Entrepreneur | Visionary

Dr. Vernita Council-Howard was born on August 29, 1977, to Willie and Ernell May. She is a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, minister, advocate, entrepreneur, and transformational leader whose life has been dedicated to serving others and empowering communities. She is the proud mother of two daughters, Tykia and Lataejah, and Godmother to Mariah. She is also the loving grandmother of four grandsons—Jordan, Jaiden, Jacion, and Jakhai—and two granddaughters, Royalty and Khyleigh, whom she cherishes deeply.

Dr. Council-Howard is also the mother of Christopher Ray Jones Jr., whose life was tragically taken due to abuse. Through unimaginable pain, she transformed her grief into purpose and became a passionate voice for survivors, families, and individuals whose voices often go unheard.

Throughout her life, Dr. Council-Howard has always possessed a deep love for people, although for many years she searched for clarity regarding her true purpose and calling. For more than 20 years, she worked in tax preparation for individuals and businesses before realizing that her true passion extended beyond finances. Her journey eventually led her into the fields of mental health, residential care, and disability services, where she worked closely with individuals facing mental health challenges and developmental disabilities.

It was through these experiences, along with rescuing survivors, advocating against domestic violence, fighting hunger, supporting underserved families, and providing expert testimony to assist children and adults in abusive situations, that she fully discovered her calling in advocacy, leadership, ministry, and nonprofit service.

Dr. Council-Howard graduated from J.H. Rose High School in June 1995. In 2007, she earned her Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Business Management. She later  through Anchorway Christian University,  she received an Honorary Doctorate and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Christian Entrepreneurship on December 13, 2025.

On May 30, 1998, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Anderson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. On March 18, 2018, she accepted her calling into the Gospel Ministry under the leadership of Pastor M.E. Lewis. In 2024, God transitioned her membership to True Fellowship Church under the leadership of Bishop Medgar Bynum, where she continues to grow spiritually and serve faithfully.
