My Story

Vernita Council-Howard  was born on August 29, 1977 to Willie and Ernell May. She is married and has two daughters Tykia and Lataejah. She also has one Goddaughter Mariah, three grandsons, Jordan,  Jaiden & Jacion  and two grandaughters Royalty & Khyleigh, whom she admires dearly. She has a son, Christopher Ray Jones Jr., whose life was ended because of the abuse.

All her life, Vernita has always had a love for people, but just couldn't figure out her calling or purpose in life. For over 20 years, Mrs. Council-Howard prepared individual and business taxes and realized taxes were not her niche. Continuing on her journey, she starting working with group homes and residential services,  serving individuals with disabilities and mental health disorders.  Along the way, she learned that so many people needed assistance having their voices heard. Her passion is serving others and being a voice for others.

Through her innate curiousity, service roles in the mental health field, rescuing survivors, fighting hunger, domestic violence awareness and providing expert testimony to bring children and adults to safety when going through domestic abuse,  she discovered her passion for service, love for advocacy, and non-profit work.

She graduated in June 1995 from JH Rose High School. In 2007, she received her Associates Degree in  Computer Information Systems Minor Business Management, Bachelor of Science.

On May 30, 1998 she accepted Christ as her Lord and savior and was baptized at Anderson Chapel MBC. On March 18, 2018, she accepted her calling into the Gospel Ministry and became a Minister  under the leadership of Pastor M.E. Lewis.

Vernita’s motto: “My Life is My Story I am here to tell it and be a voice for the voiceless.”  She said she has learned it's hard to love anyone until you learn to love yourself first. She is blessed that she can tell her story instead of having her story told on Lifetime, ID and my family reliving the events. In 2018, most of her poetry was published and can be found on Cosmo funnel. In 2019, she became an Author of Pained 2 Powerful, A Queens Journal, & A Kings Handbook and all three can be purchased on Amazon and on our webpage.  In her spare time, Vernita enjoys serving, spending time with family & friends, event planning, traveling, shopping, writing peotry and thoughts, but most of all Preaching and Teaching the Word of God!
